Bobcat of the Rockies will be the premier distributor of compact construction equipment in the Rocky Mountains. We will define that as operating in the top 25 percent of distributors in operating earnings, with the integrity of our word, bringing a stable, long term commitment to our customers, our employees and our communities.
Our company will be recognized for its hard-working and honest approach to taking great care of our customers by doing the right thing. We will work hard for their business and their loyalty by out hustling the competition every day.
We will exhibit the same long term commitment to fun and family in a faith based way. We recognize that if the business needs of an employee come in a poor third to family and faith, we are a rich company. We will be a financially stable company that will share success with employees and give back to the communities where we live.
We want our work environment to be rewarding and fun, and one that encourages a learning environment for each of our employees to grow as they work for us. We will make Berry Companies and the Berry family proud to be associated with us.
Bobcat of the Rockies was a dealer originally founded in Colorado as Empire Cranes in Dupont, Colorado by Fred Berry in 1965. Over the years the name has changed but we have been providing quality new and used skid steers, compact excavators, wheel loaders, and more construction equipment and rentals to Colorado for 40+ years! Here is a little company history.
In 1978 White Star Machinery, an equipment dealer dating back to 1910 in Wichita came to Colorado with the purchase of King and East Machinery Co. A year later the operation was moved to our current location in Commerce City, CO.
In 1981 with the boom in the energy business, a second location was opened in Grand Junction, CO as White Star Machinery.
In 1986 the name was changed to Empire Construction Equipment to reflect our broader product range.
In 1987 Empire Construction moved in with White Star Machinery to gain space. This sharing of a facility was brought about by the common ownership of both businesses as they were divisions of Berry Companies of Wichita, KS. As products changed, the combined store became known as White Star Machinery.
In 1999 White Star Machinery changed its name to Bobcat of the Rockies to reflect our primary line of Bobcat construction equipment including snow removal equipment, compact excavators, skid steers, utility vehicles and wheel loaders. We also added locations in Golden and Parker.
In 2001 we opened another location in Greeley.
On January 1, 2011, Bobcat of the Rockies assumed the management of the Bobcat operations of Colorado Machinery, which include Colorado Springs and Pueblo in the south, and Ft. Collins and Cheyenne, WY in the north. Alan Coffman will continue to lead the organization as President of Bobcat of the Rockies. A new facility was opened in Windsor in May to replace both Ft. Collins and Greeley, and in October the Pueblo Bobcat activities moved out of Colorado Machinery to a new location of its own.
Although our name has changed over the years our mission is still the same! We will provide high quality new and used sales, construction equipment rentals, all wheel loaders, skid steers, compact excavators and telehandlers, parts and excellent customer service in all areas of our equipment business.
